We have made it through our first week of a new school, a new training program, a new schedule-this week has been a week of many firsts for our family. There have been many tears shed, frustrations, and pain-questioning, “what are we doing here God?” “We know you called us here Lord-help us to work this out.” (There has also been laughter and rejoicing!!)
In all of this I have to remember that it won’t always be like this.
This past summer I was frustrated with something one of my children was doing. We were struggling with bad behavior for days straight. I was becoming unhappy and frustrated.
Then I heard God whisper to me…It won’t be like this forever.
A perspective change.
This soft whisper from my Father took the focus off of this one small, minute thing I was focusing on and showed me the bigger picture of my child’s life. It helped me to remember that the things this small human struggled with 2 or 3 years ago were not what they were facing now. The same as myself. This life is a journey.
We all go through things-struggles, heartache, failure, pain, sadness, loss-these are all very real scenarios that we have to face in this life. BUT the same God who parted the Red Sea, who causes the sun to rise and set is going before me and following behind me. He is surrounding me with His glorious Spirit. I can rest assured of this truth.
So yes, this week has seen many frustrations and pain but, this pain will not last forever. One of my favorite sayings is “God doesn’t waste a hurt.” I cling to this statement in hard times. It helps me to remember that God is working out ALL things for my good and for HIS glory. That He will use the hard things of life to make me more like Him. Isaiah 45:2 & 3 says this “This is what the Lord says: I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness-secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.”
Take heart dear ones-the God who holds the whole world in His hands sees you and loves you. He wants to enter your situation…not just to take your burden away but, to help see you through it, to teach you, and to show you love.
